Find the exact OEM filter for your Master Spas hot tub or swim spa — every series, every model, every year. Master Spas has changed its filter platform several times since the 1990s; this guide maps each one, checked against Master Spas documentation and our own parts catalog before we publish it.
Which Master Spas line is your spa?
Pick your model
Which year or configuration?
Your serial number is on a plate near the filter area, on the spa system pack, or on the frame behind the front skirt panel. On most spas built since 2009, the first two digits are the model year (2212345 = 2022). Getaway serials start with “R”, swim spas with “H”, and 2008-and-earlier spas with “M”. Full details in How to identify your model — or send us the serial number and a photo of your filters and we’ll match it for you.

Hot Tubs
Most Twilight Series hot tubs run three filters: an outer skimming filter with the EcoPur Charge mineral core locked inside, plus a stand-alone filter in a second housing. The TS 120 and TS 240 are the exception — they use a TeleWeir cartridge system instead. For 2017–2024 spas that means the X268546 outer, X268532 EcoPur Charge, and X268543 stand-alone. The 2025 platform moved to new cartridges (X268566/X268567) that do not interchange with earlier years.

Michael Phelps Legend Series
Legend Series spas — badged LSX, and MPL from 2015 to 2024 — have used four distinct filter systems since 1996. The big one to know: most 2004–2013 Legends have two filter wells, so you need two outer filters and two EcoPur cores per change. From 2014 on, the series shares the Twilight-style three-filter setup (X268546 + X268532 + X268543). Spas from the black-standpipe era convert to the current cartridges — just remove the old standpipe and lid.

Healthy Living & LH Hot Tubs
Healthy Living hot tubs (2013–2021) started on the TeleWeir system and moved to the EcoPur Charge combo in 2017. Either way, today they take the same two parts: the X268548 outer with the X268532 EcoPur Charge core. The current LH Spas line (L5–S7, 2025+) uses the new 2025 filter platform — fitment varies by model, so check with us first.

Balance & Precision Hot Tubs
Clarity Spas launched in 2013 with CLS-numbered models; the Balance and Precision names arrived in 2017. Every EcoPur-equipped Clarity through 2024 takes the X268548 outer + X268532 EcoPur Charge pair. The 2025 refresh switched to the X268568 outer with the same EcoPur core. Two early models — the CLS 360 and CLS 415 — used a single plain cartridge with no mineral core.

Fitness Swim Spas
Swim spas run more filtration than hot tubs — three to seven cartridges depending on the model. 2017–2024 H2X spas combine the X268549 outer and X268532 EcoPur Charge in the skimmer with one to three X268542 stand-alone filters: a Trainer 12 takes three filters total, the Trainer 15 family four, and a Trainer 19 seven. Therapool models use hot-tub-style cartridges instead. On the 2025 platform, most models moved to the X268566/X268560 family — but the Trainer 12, Trainer 18D, and Challenger 18D kept the older cartridges.

Master Spas uses a two-part filter in most spas built since 2002: a pleated outer filter and an EcoPur Charge mineral core that locks inside it. The outer cartridge does the mechanical work — it traps leaves, hair, body oils, and scum before they reach the plumbing. The inner core is the water-care half: Master Spas describes it as replicating the way nature purifies water with copper and zinc. As water passes through, low levels of copper and zinc oxides help control bacteria, algae, and scale, which is why a spa with a fresh EcoPur core needs noticeably less sanitizer. EcoPur reduces the chemicals you use by up to 80% — let the filter do the work for you.
Many models add a third cartridge — a stand-alone filter in a separate housing — and swim spas run up to seven cartridges across multiple housings. The EcoPur set always belongs in the filter port closest to the topside control panel. One important chemistry note: EcoPur filters are not compatible with bromine systems.
From 2002 through 2016 the mineral cartridge went through several one-piece versions (Eco Pur). In 2017 Master Spas switched every brand to the current snap-in EcoPur Charge design, and in 2025 the outer cartridges were redesigned again. That history is why the chart above splits by year — the right filter depends on when your spa was built, not just the model name.
Master Spas’ guidance is consistent across every owner’s manual: the EcoPur Charge core gets replaced every 6 months — the minerals deplete whether the fabric looks dirty or not — and it lines up with the recommended 180-day drain-and-refill. The outer and stand-alone filters last about a year with regular cleaning. Rinse weekly, deep-clean monthly, replace annually.
Heavy bather load shortens all of these intervals. Replace a filter early if the fabric is fuzzy, frayed, or torn, the pleats stick together, the end caps are brittle or cracked, or an odor survives cleaning. A tired filter shows up as cloudy water and FLO errors long before it looks worn out.
| Task | How often |
|---|---|
| Rinse filters with a garden hose | Weekly |
| Soak outer filters overnight in filter cleaner | Monthly |
| Replace EcoPur Charge core (with drain & refill) | Every 6 months |
| Replace outer / stand-alone filters | About every 12 months |
Weekly: pull the outer and stand-alone cartridges and spray between the pleats with a garden hose until the water runs clear. Monthly: soak them overnight in a spa filter cleaner, then rinse thoroughly — leftover cleaner will foam your spa when it fires back up. Keeping a spare set means the spa never waits on a wet filter, and rotating two sets makes both last longer.
The EcoPur Charge core plays by different rules: rinse it with the hose only. Soaking it in cleaner deactivates the copper-zinc minerals that make it work.
Seeing a FLO error on the topside panel? A dirty filter is the most common cause — clean or replace the filters before chasing anything else, and see our Master Spas error code guides if it persists.
Master Spas filters aren’t generic cartridges. Threads differ across the lineup — 2-inch male threads, SAE threads, closed-bottom MBT designs — and lengths and diameters changed with nearly every platform. The 2025 cartridges don’t fit earlier spas at all (Master Spas makes small adapters, X251168 and X251169, specifically to retrofit 2025 filters into older tubs). A filter that’s close-but-not-quite either won’t seal or lets water bypass the pleats, and an off-spec flow rating is a classic source of FLO errors and heater shutdowns.
The EcoPur Charge core has no aftermarket equivalent — the mineral system is a patented Master Spas design, so a knock-off “compatible” insert is just fabric. And because your spa’s water care program assumes the mineral core is present, skipping it means more sanitizer and more work.
OEM cartridges keep everything inside the spec your spa was engineered — and warrantied — around. That’s all we stock: genuine Master Spas replacement filters, straight from the manufacturer.
Everything you need is on the serial number plate. Check three places: near the filter area, on the spa system pack (behind the equipment door), or on the listing plate on the frame behind the front skirt panel. Older spas put it on the skirting itself.
Fastest route of all: send us the serial number plus a photo of your filters. We match Master Spas fitments every day, and a photo removes all doubt.
Replace the EcoPur Charge mineral core every 6 months and the outer and stand-alone filters about once a year. Rinse filters weekly and soak the outer filters in a filter cleaner monthly. Heavy bather load shortens all of those intervals.
EcoPur Charge is Master Spas’ mineral water-purification core. It uses copper and zinc to help control bacteria, algae, and scale so you use fewer chemicals. The current part is X268532 (PMA-EPR), which snaps inside the outer filter and replaces all earlier Eco Pur mineral cartridges. It is not compatible with bromine systems.
Master Spas says never to run the pumps without filters in place, and the EcoPur core is a designed part of the filtration system. Without it your water loses the mineral purification the water-care program assumes, so plan on more sanitizer and closer water testing. Replace a spent core rather than running without one.
No. Thread type, diameter, and length differ by series and year — a Getaway cartridge will not seal in a Twilight, and 2025-platform filters do not fit earlier spas at all. Match your exact model and year in the chart above.
Find the serial number near the filter area, on the spa system pack, or on the plate behind the front skirt panel. On most models built since 2009 the first two digits are the model year (2212345 = 2022). Getaway serials start with R, swim spas start with H, and 2008-and-earlier spas start with M.
2017–2024 Twilight spas use the X268546 outer with the X268532 EcoPur Charge core, plus the X268543 stand-alone filter. The TS 120 and TS 240 use X268548 + X268532 instead. 2009–2016 spas take the same current replacement parts, and 2025 models switched to the new X268566/X268567 cartridges.
2017–2024 H2X swim spas combine an X268549 outer and X268532 EcoPur Charge in the skimmer, plus one to three X268542 stand-alone filters depending on the model. A Trainer 12 takes three filters total, the Trainer 15 family takes four, and a Trainer 19 takes seven. Therapool models use hot-tub-style cartridges instead.
Master Spas superseded most older filters: X268365 became X268543; X268551, X268512, and X268533 became X268546; X268511, X268056, X268513, and X268045 are all replaced by the X268532 EcoPur Charge; X268045’s outer role went to X268549; X265010 became X268542; and X268514, X268545, X268544, and X268520 became X268548. The chart above lists the current part for every model.
No. Dishwashers, bleach, dish soap, and pressure washers all damage the filter media. Rinse with a garden hose weekly and soak outer filters overnight in a spa filter cleaner monthly. Never soak the EcoPur core — soaking deactivates its minerals; rinse it only.
Some come close physically, but Master Spas filters use specific threads, lengths, and flow ratings, and the EcoPur Charge mineral core has no aftermarket equivalent. Off-spec filters are a common cause of FLO errors and bypassed debris. We stock genuine OEM cartridges only.
A dirty or failing filter is the most common cause. Remove and clean the filters, or replace them if they are due, then restart the spa. If the error persists, check our Master Spas error code guides — it can also point to a pressure switch or circulation pump issue.
It varies: most 2017–2024 H2X and MP swim spas use three filters (outer + EcoPur + one stand-alone), larger models like the Trainer 15 family use four, and dual-end spas like the MP Momentum and Trainer 19 use seven. Count your filter housings or check the chart above.
